Speech Therapy (ST) is the treatment for swallowing problems and communication disorders. With the concentration of improvement or cure of these conditions focus may include articulation, intonation, rate, intensity, voice, resonance or fluency of speech. Another area of concentration is on the receptiveness and expressiveness of language including reading, writing, verbal and non verbal communication such as facial expression, posture and gestures. Depending on the nature of severity of the disorder, treatments may range from physical exercises, instructive or repetitive practice, drills, and the use of audio-visual aids and introduction of strategies to functional communication. At Hitchcock Healthcare our speech-language pathologists have over 35 years of experience between them.
